Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ZipGallery — from uploading photos to sharing galleries and choosing a plan.

Getting started
ZipGallery is an AI-powered photo gallery creator. You compress your photos into a .zip file, upload it, and our AI automatically reads every image and generates a descriptive title, SEO-friendly alt text, and tags. The result is a beautiful, shareable gallery published at its own URL — no manual tagging required.
No. You can try the guest upload with up to 10 MB of photos without signing up. Guest galleries are temporary though — to save your gallery permanently and get access to all features, create a free account.
1. Register for a free account.
2. Choose New gallery and give it a title.
3. Upload a .zip file of your photos (JPEG, PNG, or WebP).
4. Preparation starts automatically. Keep the page open while your photos are organised.
5. Share your gallery link with anyone — no login needed to view.

Processing time depends on the number of photos. See the full how it works guide.
Uploads & formats
ZipGallery supports .jpg, .jpeg, .png, and .webp files inside your ZIP. Any other file types (RAW files, PDFs, videos, etc.) are automatically skipped — they won't cause errors, they're just ignored.
The maximum ZIP size is 350 MB per upload for free accounts and Pro accounts. If your photo collection is larger, just upload multiple ZIPs to the same gallery — images are appended each time. Pro+ accounts have no image-count limit per gallery.
Yes. ZipGallery recursively scans all folders inside your ZIP. Whether your photos are at the root level or nested several levels deep, they will all be found and imported.
Absolutely. Use the Add photos button in your gallery toolbar to add another ZIP at any time. New images are appended alongside existing ones. Keep the preparation page open until your photos are ready.
ZipGallery generates three responsive variants from each photo — thumbnail, medium, and large — optimised for fast web delivery (converted to WebP where possible). Your original ZIP file is retained so you can download the full gallery bundle at any time.
Ai features
For each photo the AI generates:

• Title — a short descriptive name for the image
• Alt text — an accessible description suitable for screen readers and SEO
• Tags — a set of keywords describing the content, mood, and setting

All of this is written using GPT-4 Vision, which actually "looks at" your photo rather than just reading its filename.
Yes. Every gallery has an edit view where you can update the title, alt text, and tags for any image. The AI output is a starting point — you're free to tweak or completely rewrite it. You can also re-run the AI on individual images if needed.
The AI (GPT-4 Vision) is generally very accurate for common subjects — people, landscapes, architecture, food, animals, and events. It occasionally misidentifies specific locations or people it doesn't recognise. For specialised photography (medical, scientific, highly technical) accuracy may be lower. Review the outputs before publishing if precision is critical.
Smart Albums (available on Pro and Pro+ plans) automatically group your gallery's images into sub-albums by detected category — for example, Portraits, Landscapes, Architecture, Food, and so on. The grouping is based on the AI tags generated during processing. You need at least two images per category for an album to be created.
Sharing & privacy
No. Public galleries are accessible to anyone with the link — no login required. You can share the URL via email, social media, or embed it in a website.
Yes. New galleries are public. Use Gallery options on Your galleries to make a gallery private before uploading. When set to private, the gallery is only visible when you are logged into your account. Other visitors cannot view it.
Yes. Paste your gallery URL into any WordPress post (Gutenberg, Elementor, or Classic Editor) and it will embed automatically as an iframe. The gallery viewer is fully responsive so it adapts to any container width.
When you create a gallery, the URL slug is auto-generated from the title (e.g. /g/spain-holiday-2025). You can customise the slug to anything you like. Pro and Pro+ accounts also get a custom profile URL (e.g. /u/yourname) that lists all your public galleries.
